Cross-Chat Memory: When the AI Remembers Across Conversations
Cross-chat memory means the AI can use information from your other conversations when it replies. Get4oBack Plus and Pro include this: the model can reference what you said in different chats (e.g. your preferences or context) so you do not have to repeat yourself.
How it works
When you chat, the system can inject relevant context from your other conversations into the current one. For example, if you mentioned your job or preferences in one chat, the AI can use that in another. You stay in control: you can disable or manage what is shared. It is useful for consistency without retyping the same details in every thread.
When it helps
Cross-chat memory is helpful when you work on related topics across multiple chats or when you want the AI to "know" you better without pasting long context each time. It is included in Get4oBack Plus and Pro; the free tier does not include it. You can try the app free, then upgrade if you want memory and other Plus/Pro features.
Privacy and control
You stay in control of what is shared across chats. The app lets you disable or manage cross-chat memory in settings if you prefer that each conversation stay isolated. Some users like memory for work or ongoing projects; others turn it off for sensitive or one-off chats. Check the app settings to see how to enable, limit, or disable it.
With custom instructions
Cross-chat memory works together with custom instructions. Your instructions set a default tone or context; memory adds what the AI learned from your other chats. So the model can both follow your stated preferences and recall that you mentioned your role, language, or project in another thread. That reduces repetition and keeps answers consistent. If you use different personas or topics, you can still use folders to separate chats and rely on memory only where it helps.
Turning memory off
If you prefer each chat to stay isolated, you can disable cross-chat memory in Get4oBack settings. That way the model will not use context from other conversations. Useful for sensitive topics, one-off questions, or when you want a clean slate per thread. You can turn it back on anytime. Memory is a Plus and Pro feature; on the free tier there is no cross-chat memory, so each conversation is already isolated by default. Full control in your hands.
Summary
Cross-chat memory lets the AI use context from your other chats. Get4oBack Plus and Pro include it. You can control it in settings. Useful for consistency and less repetition across conversations.
